Swan Socks For An Ugly Day

These socks have been sitting in The Drawer Of Holding for literally months. Over all that time, I’ve been struggling to come up with a good day to wear them. I mean, for one thing, they’re Steelers colors, and as a long-suffering, lifetime Bengals fan, it’s a challenge to wear anything that’s black and gold.

Even beyond all that, though, all this time I’ve basically been thinking that they were just plain ugly.

This morning, though, I figured it was going to be an ugly day anyway. The Bengals were hosting the Broncos while starting some guys you would expect to only see in pre-season games (and, indeed, that went about as well as expected). Then, later, I had a hockey game where my team of old, out of shape dudes who never really had any skill to speak of had to face off against a team of skilled, in-shape kids. That also went about as well as I expected.

Which is to say, it was ugly.

Of course, as soon as I put these on this morning, the Puddinette immediately told me how cool they were. So now I’m not really sure if they’re even as aesthetically challenged as I thought.

At the end of today, though, certainly it seems to have gone according to expectations. So maybe these socks were the only touch of beauty in an otherwise hideous day?

That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

  1. At least it wasn’t a save the bumble bees post, although they could use the press Lol
Actually, good connection for a truly odd pair 🙂

  2. I would have gotten motion sickness if I’d looked at those socks all day. There is nothing wrong with them, but the pattern was too busy for my eyes.
