I was so planning to write some fiction today. I really was, I was going to take a little time this afternoon before my hockey game and either give you a little more of the bar patron, or finally explain what’s up in Thom’s world. It was very nice outside today, though, and the kids wanted to ride their bikes. So instead of writing new fiction, or anything else for that matter, I spent most of my afternoon sitting in my driveway in a fold-out chair, reading a very entertaining piece of fiction by someone else.

So, nothing new today, which really isn’t unusual since I rarely manage to write anything on hockey days. Still, it usually irks me when my plans go awry. Not today, though. It was beautiful and warm, and the kids laughed that wonderful, irreplaceable, completely innocent laugh born of the joy of childhood, where your only responsibility is in trying to remember to brush your teeth.

It was a good day, and I’m a better person for having shirked my planned duties.

Don’t worry, I’ll hook you up tomorrow. šŸ™‚
