I don’t know about you and yours out there, but we’ve had quite the busy day. Of all the holidays, Easter always seems to me to be the most energetic and hectic. Sure, everyone dreads Christmas with the shopping and the stress, etc, but all that is usually spread out over the course of several days/weeks. Easter, on the other hand, is a bunch of action jammed into one single Sunday, and for most people it doesn’t include any time off from work.
In no particular order, today’s likely activities included the early morning consumption of high-sugared candies and/or chocolate, the nap-inducing Big Holiday Breakfast, the high speed locating, acquiring, and occasional fighting over chicken eggs delivered and theoretically hidden by a bunny (at one or more locations), the consumption of a bounty of springy foodstuffs, including as much ham as one can effectively consume without producing an oinking noise (at one or more locations), and of course, the obligatory religious service.
Now, of course, not everyone considers today a holiday. I guess for some people today is just, you know, Sunday, with the added bonus of being able to catch the annual broadcast of “The Ten Commandments”. I don’t care who you are or what you believe in, Heston as Moses giving Brynner’s Pharaoh the business is Just. Good. Entertainment.
At any rate, it was a good day for us. Eggs were found, sugar was mainlined, much hammy goodness was consumed, and now we’re all ready for a little down time.
Too bad Easter doesn’t come with a day off to recuperate.
Nonetheless, whether today is a holiday for you or not, best wishes for a wonderful day from everyone here at la casa de Puddin.
Now…I think I can squeeze in one more egg. Chicken or peanut butter, that is the question.
