Socks for Social Distancing, Day 33

We’ve apparently reached the point in all this where I can no longer adequately track the passage of time. Case in point, before I corrected it, I had prematurely jumped to Day 40 in the title of yesterday’s post, which you can still see in the Facebook post for the blog. I was over a week ahead of myself.

Indeed, it certainly does sort of feel like we’re up to Day 40–or more honestly Day 140–but it really is only the 33rd day today.

Which is the perfect day for this pair of socks, because much like I’m not sure what to say about day 33, I’m not sure what to write about these either. In fact, I’m not even sure what to call this pattern, or if it has an “official” name. I always want to give it the benefit of the doubt and say they’re argyle, but you and I both know they just aren’t. They are at best argyle adjacent, like argyle’s poor, simpler cousin. The wife and I settled on calling it a “diamond” pattern after some deliberation, but while they are smart looking, I don’t know that they’re either “forever” or a “girl’s best friend.”

They are, however, mine, and solid enough that I’m happy to have worn them here on Day 682.

Can’t wait to see what I come up with tomorrow for Day Eleventy.
