Quickly, because I’m trying to do other thinky things with my minds

This is pretty unusual for a Monday, but I’ve got a bunch of things occupying my grey matter at the moment, meaning I’m limited on the creative juice needed to put into writing a Snazzy Blog Post ™.  Admittedly, it doesn’t help that my brain normally operates about as well as that 1958 For-dge-olet jalopy your grandfather refused to give up on when you were a kid.  Never-you-mind about the thick black smoke it belched out worse than Uncle Hal after two helpings of sauerkraut, and if those damn hoodlums in the neighborhood were too dumb to know the difference between a backfire and gunfire, well, that was their problem.  He’d decided when that car had seen better days, thank-you-very-much, and everyone else just could keep their damned opinions to themselves.

Anyway, the point is that even when my thinker is firing on all cylinders, it’s not firing on all cylinders, if you know what I mean.  And now it’s preoccupied to boot, which never helps.

I did briefly consider posting a haiku or a limerick today, but nothing interesting came to mind as far as topics go.

The exception, of course, being that it’s March 25th and still snowing like a sunovabitch pretty much everywhere it can snow.  If this month has any intention of going out a lamb, it better start getting all cute and fleecy, because right now I’m not buying it.  In fact, I’m beginning to wonder if maybe HBO didn’t pull out all the stops in marketing the upcoming season of Game of Thrones by inventing a machine capable of keeping winter hanging on until the season 3 premiere next Sunday.

“Winter is Coming”, my ass.  “Winter is Staying” is more like it.

Let’s all hope that we get our spring next week.  Otherwise, I can only assume this business is going to lead to the War of Five Kings.  And that won’t be good for anyone.

There is a spot of good news, though.  Remember that pitch contest I mentioned last week?  In case you don’t, the 10-word recap is that I’d made it into the second round of Brenda Drake’s Pitch Madness contest (okay, so that was more than 10 words, no one asked you for any of that uppity countiness).  Well, it got better after that.  Late Thursday night, I found that of the initial 400+ entries, my pitch for Longshots had been selected as one of the final 64 to be bid on by actual agents

Even better, if you look at that link, you’ll see Longshots is listed as number 13 of 15. PS, 13 is my lucky number.  I’m pretty stoked about that.

So, then, let’s all work together to make HBO’s devious and evil manipulation of global weather a thing of the past by watching the Game of Thrones premiere on Sunday (after the Ten Commandments, of course, which is an Easter staple).

And if you wouldn’t mind, send my good luck and happy thoughts as the pitch contest plays about between 8 AM tomorrow and the release of the winners Thursday at noon.

If you need me in the meantime, I’ll be hiding somewhere, chewing my fingernails to disgusting stumps.

  1. Sorry about the Ten Commandments thing but I never found an Easter thing with a happy ending until way too late to placate my need for immediate reward. Ben Hur is probably the closest:)
